About John

Pastor John Samson | Peoria, Arizona, U.S.A.

John Samson is the founding pastor-teacher of King’s Church in Peoria, Arizona, as well as an author and conference speaker. He has a passion for the local church and for the free offer of the gospel to be proclaimed far and wide. At the heart of his ministry is a commitment to the faithful proclamation of God’s Word through clear, down-to-earth, verse-by-verse expositional preaching. His desire is to proclaim God as He really is and the gospel as it really is. In keeping with these convictions, he gladly affirms the historic creeds of the church, the Five Solas of the Reformation, the doctrines of grace, and the Second London Baptist Confession of 1689.

Since 2005, John has written extensively for Reformed Christian ministry, with many of those articles now featured at Monergism.com. He also maintains his own blog at effectualgrace.com.

June 2026 will mark 39 years of Christian ministry for John. During that time, he has served in pastoral ministry in both England and the United States, and has ministered in churches, camps, conferences, and gospel outreach settings in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mongolia. John has also been a guest on a number of well-known Christian media platforms and has spoken at numerous conferences across the United States.

John was born and raised in the historic city of Chester, England, about 21 miles south of Liverpool. As a teenager, John hoped to become a professional football player, known in the United States as soccer. He was top scorer for the Chester under-14 and under-15 teams, and was selected for the Chester under-19 side while still only 16 years of age. The Lord, however, had a different and far better path for him, calling him into Christian ministry.

After graduating from Regents Theological College in England in 1987, John began ministry as Associate Minister alongside the late Harry Greenwood. For many years he also hosted a live two-hour Christian television program on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, as well as a daily 30-minute Bible teaching radio broadcast, The Spirit of Faith, heard across central Arizona. Since that time, the Lord, in His great kindness, has brought John out of significant theological error and deception and into a much deeper understanding of the truth of Scripture and the gospel of grace.

By God’s grace, some of Pastor John’s sermons are featured at Monergism, including in its Hall of Contemporary Preachers. He counts it a privilege for his preaching to be used to point others to Christ and strengthen the wider church.

Believing that the Lord’s call to live and serve in the United States was a long-term assignment, John became a U.S. citizen in February 2003.
